Beijing Olympic Park

The Beijing Olympic Park is located in the city's Chaoyang district, at the northern end of Beijing's central axis. It is the Venue of the Beijing 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games, containing major stadiums such as the Bird's Nest and the Water Cube. It has now become a comprehensive center of public activities.

Facts of Beijing Olympic Park

It occupies a total area of 11.59 square kilometers and is divided into three zones: the Forest Park in the north, with 6.8 square kilometers; in the center are the main stadiums and auxiliary facilities, with 3.15 square kilometers; and the south, is the area of the built stadium and the reserved land, which covers an area of 1.64 square kilometers.

The Olympic Park is an extension of the traditional central axis of the city, a metaphor for the continuation of China's 1,000 years of history and culture, all of which embodies the three great concepts: science and technology, green and humanism. Being a new urban area that combines various functions, such as office, commerce, hotel, culture, sports, conference and residence, it has a perfect infrastructure and a well-connected transportation network. It enjoys many “best” reputations: Asia's largest man-made water system in urban areas, Asia's largest urban green landscape, world's most open pedestrian plaza, Asia's longest underground traffic corridor, and largest city plaza of park celebrations.

Olympic Forest Park

The Forest Park is divided into two areas: North and South by the 5th ring road. The southern area is mostly filled with artificial landscapes where the Aohai Sea and Yangshan Mountain have been built using traditional technologies related to classical garden construction. The northern area, on the other hand, is closer to nature and has wilder characteristics. The green surroundings, the large area and the beautiful landscape make the Olympic Forest Park a pleasant sight to walk among the trees and breathe fresh air. It is an ideal place for families to enjoy a wonderful weekend.

The Bird's Nest

The Bird's Nest is the symbol of Beijing and a legacy of the 2008 Summer Olympics. Its unique steel structure and shape make it one of the leading engineering marvels in the world today.

The Water Cube

The Water Cube is named after its enormous cubic structure shaped like a soap bubble above it. At night, it turns into a blue cube under the light. In addition, the tallest building in the Olympic Park, the Linglong Tower, is located in the park, 132 meters high. When night falls, these buildings look particularly beautiful under colorful lights.
