By traveling with ChinaTravelVip, you can explore both the modern part of Shanghai and be impressed by its elegant gardens, ancient temples and architecture of various styles dating back decades. This article lists the best attractions in Shanghai for an unforgettable experience.

The Bund

The Bund, a well-known boardwalk and Shanghai's most popular attraction, extends along 1.5 kilometers of the west bank of the Huangpu River. This place is famous for its collection of characteristic Shanghai buildings. Opposite modern skyscrapers such as the Shanghai Tower, Oriental Pearl Tower and Jinmao Tower, the Bund presents itself as a grand stage showcasing a rich collection of stunning architecture from the early 20th century. These buildings, built between the 20s and 40s of the last century, present different architectural styles that harmonize perfectly. The most impressive thing is that the buildings are illuminated at night, creating a luminous and dazzling spectacle, which is undoubtedly an iconic symbol of Shanghai.

Yuyuan Garden

Located in Huangpu District, central Shanghai, Yuyuan Garden is a completely restored classical Chinese garden, unique in the city. Built in 1559 during the Ming Dynasty, this private garden is a perfect example of the southern Chinese gardens of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Although it occupies less than five acres, it demonstrates excellent technique in combining several different elements to create a miniature world, with pavilions and passageways, carefully selected hills and rocks, lotus ponds, bridges, winding paths, trees and bushes.

Jade Buddha Temple

The Jade Buddha Temple, a Song Dynasty-style building, is located in central Shanghai. It was first built in Jiangwan County in 1882 to house a 1.9-meter-high white jade Buddha statue carved in Burma. To facilitate access for visitors, the statue was moved to its current location in Shanghai in 1918. This temple is one of the must-see attractions in Shanghai, and is still in operation today with 70 resident monks. The value of the Jade Buddha Temple lies not only in its architecture, but in the Buddha statue itself.

Oriental Pearl Tower

Located in Pudong District, Shanghai's Oriental Pearl Tower is a popular television tower and tourist attraction. Completed in 1995 with an innovative design, this tower has become a symbol of architectural excellence and is a favorite man-made spectacle for tourists in Shanghai. With a total height of 467.9 meters, it faces the European-style architecture of the Bund, across the Huangpu River. The tower offers multiple functions for visiting, dining, shopping and entertainment. Tourists can visit a platform 263 meters high from which there is a panoramic view of the Huangpu River and the Bund. Additionally, the tower can receive up to 6,000 visitors a day.

Nanjing Street

With a total length of 5.5 kilometers, Nanjing Street is known as the busiest shopping street in China. In fact, it is the oldest shopping street in Shanghai since the city opened to the outside world. Today, it is an ideal place for shopping, where you can find household and general items, clothing, watches, cell phones, jewelry and luxury products. During the day, Nanjing Street is full of visitors, and at night, the colorful neon lights make the street even more attractive.

These are the main tourist attractions in Shanghai, where you can enjoy an unforgettable experience and appreciate the mix of modernity and tradition in this vibrant city.
