The Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, built between 1890-1894, is Guangzhou's finest example of Lingnan architectural artistry and a UNESCO World Heritage component. This former clan temple features spectacular decorations including wood carvings depicting historical scenes, intricate brick sculptures, detailed stone engravings, and iconic ceramic ridge ornaments. The complex's symmetrical layout, courtyards, and decorative elements represent traditional Cantonese craftsmanship at its most elaborate. Now housing the Guangdong Folk Art Museum, it displays additional cultural artifacts while preserving its original architectural splendor, serving as both historical monument and active cultural institution.
