Morning: Lingering Garden & Tiger Hill
Begin at the Lingering Garden, a UNESCO site famed for its mastery of spatial design. Wander among its halls, courtyards, rockeries, and ponds to appreciate its ever-changing vistas.
Then, explore Tiger Hill, the ""Number One Scenic Spot in Wu."" See the ancient Yunyan Pagoda (China's Leaning Tower), visit the enigmatic Sword Pond, and learn the legends of Thousand Men Rock while enjoying city views from the hilltop.
Afternoon: Shantang Street & Pingjiang Road
In the afternoon, stroll along Shantang Street. This ancient street, built under poet Bai Juyi's supervision, bustles with shops and offers a vibrant glimpse of old Suzhou life along the canal.
Afterwadds, explore the Pingjiang Road historic district. It preserves the original ""canals parallel to streets"" layout of the ancient city. Walk the cobblestone path, flanked by traditional houses, boutique shops, and Pingtan storytelling houses, soaking in the authentic, slow-paced Jiangnan atmosphere.
Evening: Free Time
Enjoy a local Suzhou-style dinner at a restaurant along Pingjiang or Shantang Street, perhaps trying dishes like Squirrel-Shaped Mandarin Fish or Eel with Hot Oil. The ancient streets are beautifully lit by lanterns at night.

Full Day: Tongli Ancient Town

Spend a full day immersed in the tranquil canal life of Tongli Ancient Town, surrounded by five lakes.

Cross the Three Bridges: Walk across the auspicious Taiping, Jili, and Changqing stone bridges, following the local custom for good fortune.

Visit a Garden: Explore the compact and ingenious Tui Si Garden (Garden of Retreat and Reflection), noted for its buildings situated right at the water's edge.

Take a Boat Ride: Glide through the interlocking canals on a hand-rowed wooden boat for the best views of Ming and Qing architecture and daily life.

Taste Local Snacks: Be sure to try Tongli specialties like sock-sole crisps, foxnut cakes, and braised pork shank.
