Assemble at the designated location in downtown Yichang in the afternoon. A coach will transfer you to the pier in Maoping or Zigui for boarding. The cruise ship departs in the evening. After boarding, attend the compulsory safety drill and voyage briefing.
Detailed Reference: The transfer from Yichang to the upstream port takes about 1-1.5 hours. The embarkation process is usually completed by early evening. Your first night on the river is peaceful, setting the tone for the journey ahead.
Morning: The included shore excursion is a visit to the Three Gorges Dam. You will ascend to the observation decks for a comprehensive view of this immense structure. An optional boat lift experience through the dam's ship lift may be available (extra cost).
Afternoon: The cruise ship sails through the Xiling Gorge, the longest of the Three Gorges. Enjoy the initial views of rolling hills and cliffs from the deck.
Evening: Attend the Captain's Welcome Cocktail Reception and dinner as the ship continues its upstream journey.
Morning: The included excursion is a transfer to smaller, locally-manned boats for an adventure up the Shennong Stream. Navigate its crystal-clear, narrow waters and learn about the local Tujia culture and the fascinating tradition of ""hanging coffins.""
Afternoon: This is the scenic highlight. The ship sails through the breathtaking Wu Gorge, famous for its elegant, mist-shrouded peaks including the Goddess Peak. Afterwards, enter the short but imposing Qutang Gorge, marked by its sheer, towering cliffs at the Kuimen Gate.
Evening: An optional paid shore excursion to Baidicheng, the ""City of Poetry,"" is often offered in the evening. The ship sails overnight.
Morning: A relaxing morning sailing on the river. Attend cultural lectures or enjoy the views from the deck.
Afternoon: The included shore excursion is to Fengdu Ghost City. Explore this unique hillside complex of temples and shrines dedicated to the afterlife, based on Chinese mythology and Taoist beliefs.
Evening: Enjoy the Captain's Farewell Banquet with your fellow travelers as the ship makes its final approach towards Chongqing.
Morning: After a final breakfast on board, your cruise ship arrives at Chongqing's Chaotianmen Pier. Disembarkation usually takes place between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM, marking the end of your memorable Yangtze River journey.
Note on Flexibility: The sequence of shore excursions, especially for Fengdu Ghost City, may vary between different cruise lines and based on river conditions. The optional excursions (Baidicheng, Dam Boat Lift) are at an additional cost. The core included experiences are the Three Gorges Dam, Shennong Stream, and Fengdu Ghost City."
