Morning: The Forbidden City (Palace Museum)
Begin your journey at the UNESCO World Heritage Forbidden City. Explore the world's largest and best-preserved complex of ancient wooden structures, visiting iconic halls like the Hall of Supreme Harmony and the Imperial Garden, and immerse yourself in the imperial history and art collections of the Ming and Qing dynasties.
Afternoon: Jingshan Park & Hutong Exploration
Exit the Forbidden City and head directly across the street to Jingshan Park. Climb to the top of Wanchun Pavilion for a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire Forbidden City and central Beijing.
Afterwards, dive into the labyrinth of Beijing's traditional hutongs. Explore these narrow alleyways by rickshaw or on foot, experience authentic local life, see traditional courtyard homes (siheyuan), and interact with residents.

Visit another UNESCO site, the Temple of Heaven, where Ming and Qing emperors performed ceremonies to pray for good harvests. See its iconic structures like the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, the Imperial Vault of Heaven, and the Circular Mound Altar, appreciating their architectural ingenuity and deep cultural significance.
Afternoon: Mutianyu Great Wall
In the afternoon, take a drive (approx. 1.5-2 hours) northeast of Beijing to the Mutianyu Great Wall, renowned for its beautiful scenery and dense watchtowers. You can take a cable car up for easier access and enjoy a walk on this well-preserved, relatively gentle section. Standing atop this world wonder, gaze upon the rolling peaks of the Yanshan Mountains and feel its grandeur and history.
