With a history over 1,700 years, Xingping Ancient Town sits on the Li River bank in Yangshuo, Guilin. Visitors walk along winding bluestone paths lined with distinctive northern Guangxi grey-brick arcades. Along the route lie Guandi Temple, a well-preserved Qing-dynasty opera stage and Qianyuan Bridge. Its riverside viewing platform is the exact shooting location for the reverse side of China’s 20-yuan RMB banknote, ideal for photo checks with a 20-yuan bill. Nevertheless, the core tourist area has obvious commercial development with numerous souvenir shops and catering stores.
